"Emily was tutoring my son in both English and History for his Nat 5 exams. She began working with him in November before his English prelim. We were prepared and briefed for my son, Tyler, to fail his prelim but after only a few sessions with Emily he passed. By March Tyler’s English teacher took him aside to let him know she had seen a huge improvement in what he was producing and thought he may even be able to get an A, a huge contrast to what he was told in November. The only change had been his sessions with Emily.

History was particularly difficult for Tyler and Emily noticed huge gaps in his knowledge and realised that she may need to take a different approach with him. She constructed questions and helped him to organise his notes and time and gave him guided and specific direction with his study, which is something he would not have been able to do on his own or even with parental input.

Tyler is a student that requires extra support with written subjects and is undergoing assessment for suspected ADHD. Emily picked up on this on her own before we discussed it and showed endless patience in working with an anxious and very easily distracted teen. Emily managed to find new ways to keep him engaged and able to retain what he was learning, going above and beyond what somebody would expect from any tutor and often finding alternative ways of working with him. There is no doubt in my mind that Emily truly cares about giving her students the best support she can. I would highly recommend Emily to any parent whose teen is struggling with these subjects."
